#25 Smart Greenhouse Project with PicoBricks
The rapid changes in climate due to the effect of global warming cause a decrease in productivity in agricultural activities. In the 1500s, Daniel Barbaro
PicoBricks eliminates the difficulties of electronic programming. It is a project development card that aims to create more creative projects instead of wasting time with these difficulties.
STEAM is an interdisciplinary educational approach that enables the use of science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics fields together. It aims to provide students with the ability to solve a problem by using the steps of computational thinking. STEAM is a frequently used approach in electronic programming education, as students actively use all STEAM disciplines during electronic programming activities.
Thanks to its modular structure, Picobricks eliminates difficulties in physical programming such as soldering, cable mess and incorrect connection of pin points. At the same time, the microcontroller card Raspberry Pi Pico is easy to code and it is supported by many coding platforms, so it eliminates the difficulty experienced in the programming phase.
Since PicoBricks eliminates these difficulties in physical programming, it makes it easier for students to develop their skills such as creating algorithms and problem solving by generating more creative ideas during STEAM activities.
PicoBricks Teacher Book enables teachers to integrate electronic programming education into their lessons by using STEAM disciplines together with PicoBricks.
The PicoBricks Teacher Book is an educational book for 21st-century teachers, based on international computer science (CSTA K-12) standards. Teachers provide international computer science (CSTA K-12) standards by using STEAM activities in the PicoBricks Teacher Book. The standards provided by each section are specified at the end of the section.
Block-based programming platforms are suitable to teach programming to primary and secondary school-level students.
PicoBricks TeacherBook contains more than 30 activities that students can do physical programming activities with block-based programming platforms.

There are 4 main components that make up the computer. These components are;
1. Processor: Small chips on the motherboard are called processors. We can think
of the processor as the brain of the computer. The faster the processor, the faster your
computer.
2. Storage Units: Computers store information using storage units. Storage units
are divided into short-term and long-term memory.
In this project, we will print the first 100 digits of Pi to the screen in order. While writing the digits on the screen, the number of digits on the screen will be indicated on the screen at the same time.
This Project can be used as a small exercise project designed to memorize the digits of pi.
PicoBricks Teacher Book has several unplugged STEAM activities designed for teachers to apply STEAM activities without a computer. Activity designs were presented as fascicles so that teachers could hand out these activities to all students.
PicoBricks Teacher Book has worksheets for students to learn the information they learn during the lesson by practicing on paper without using a computer. Teachers can print these worksheets as much as the class size and hand out them to the class.

All activities in the PicoBricks Teacher Book have been prepared by using block-based programming platforms. There are lots of STEAM projects designed with block-based programming platforms in the Teacher Book, and you do not need to set up any circuits in these projects.
